Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
"I would just urge all supporters to get behind the team at home, because I think the nerves of the crowd and the little bit of booing before half-time is unsettling the players, it's not helping you know. It doesn't spur them on to play well, it destroys their confidence. So I would urge every supporter, if you can't get behind them and applaud them, don't come because we don't need it you know.

But the away supporters they've been absolutely wonderful and that's the support we want and sometimes you're going to lose and you still need that support."

In football ground there are two sets of paying customers. One set are wrong and are so wrong they have to be segregated for their own safety.

If you boo West Ham you are an away fan and should be treated the same way as an away fan in the home end.

I wondered why the standard of our clobber at home games had dipped recently..

I didn’t go to these games.

But booing your team at home when a new manager has just started at the beginning of the season.

Fuck me how embarrassing – I will be back for the Newcastle game to sort this out.

Completely agree with him 10000%.

Re: Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
What they need to do is start positively and get the crowd on side from the off.....12th man and all that.

I don't agree with booing, never have, but we haven't managed a shot on goal in the first 45 mins of both home matches and been two down at half time and that is something that needs to be put right.

Never really got around to getting my head around booing your own team/players - it's simply a selfish, self-centred, look-at-me-I'm-special-me activity.

When I went to games, which was, admittedly, a (very) long time ago, it was understood, in the way the east end understands things, that it just wasn't the done thing: don't like something, keep quiet; like something, raise the roof to encourage more of the same.

If you've ever (EVER) made a mistake in your life and can't quite work out what you did wrong, but still get the mother of all bollockings for it, you might just understand the effect booing has on players: they are still humans, not machines, no matter how much market forces allow them to earn.

So far at both Leicester & Bournemouth we have played better during the 2nd half once we have found ourselves 0-2 down..

Maybe boo before the start of the game and we may win one.

Not really... I am not a boo boy! COYI

Back on the booing thing again I see.

Won't be reading what Sullivan says on this.

Re: Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
Agreed. I guess Sullivan was thinking back to all the booing a couple of years ago when he said that it affects the players. But there were plenty on here who were saying that it's their right to boo when they want to, because they pay to get in. Which I suppose it is, but that doesn't help the players or the team. Anyway, let's not get into all that again.

Re: Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
You get booing at every ground (it's a part and parcel of Football) it's upto the chairmen to have a good manager in place and get a decent squad together.

I don't think it has warranted booing so far, as it's only 2 games in at home but you have to remember you also get day trippers who don't really follow the sport and copy when someone else starts booing.

No I don't think this site is full of paying customers, I would say the majority are.

This site is full of paying customers. Do you still believe that?

The paying customer is always right.

Stay out of the media spotlight and sign a few players instead and keep quiet.

Re: Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
Agree with him if you like booing you should go to the theatre.
Can appreciate there are nerves, but would tell our boys just remember you are at home and they are your people here wanting you to do well. The first 5 minutes can be the most important so it's imperative you stamp your authority early on in the game and that will set the tone for the rest of the game.

In our two home games, God knows what has happened in both the first halves where the games have been lost.
Its up to the management to have the team prepared at kick off and banging those dressing room doors down. Once the tone is set early, the nerves will disappear, the crowd will be with you, the fear will be with the away team.
The buck stops with the team starting the game with the right attitude and tempo.

Re: Sullivan's message to West Ham supporters
Do I agree with booing, no but let's be honest we had to put up with Allardyce and his shit brand of football for way to long. Sullivan needs to understand that the frustration a lot of felt from that is not going to disappear overnight especially when up until the Liverpool game we'd had the one good performance against Arsenal and pretty shit performances vs Bournemouth, Leicester and from the Euro campaign, including throwing a game. Add to that the average transfer dealings this summer and people have frustration.
